Wine Stains
Pour salt on the stain to absorb the wine. Baking soda works as well. Then, pour a little club soda on the stain and blot it with a cloth. Gently rub the wine stain with a mixture of lukewarm water and dish-washing liquid until the stain is removed. For stubborn wine stains, pour a little hydrogen peroxide on the wine to lift the color from your carpet.
Pet Stains
Pour white vinegar on the stain to absorb the spot. Pour baking soda on top of the vinegar to neutralize the odor and add more stain-fighting power. It’s best to let the stain treatment set for a couple of days before sweeping or vacuuming it.
Blood Stains
Use cold water to rinse blood from the carpet. Then treat the stain with a drop of dishwashing liquid and cold water. You can dry the carpet fibers quickly by using a blow dryer.
Ink Stains
Rubbing alcohol can lift ink stains from carpet. Wet a cloth with alcohol and dab it on the ink stain. Do this several times and then leave the alcohol on the ink stain for about half an hour. Next, rinse the stain with warm water and vinegar.
Coffee Stains
Flush the coffee stain with a little cool water. Mix a solution of water, dishwashing detergent and lemon juice. Dip a washcloth in the solution and dab the stain gently. Soak up any excess moisture with a paper towel.
